The tourism industry today is the second largest economic sector, after
manufacturing in the world. Earlier than in other sectors, tourism
embarked on e-Business, not only with respect to B2B, but also to B2C.
Currently, travel information services are dominantly provided by
Global Distribution Systems (GDSs). |

One of the key problems in healthcare informatics is the inability to
share patient records across enterprises. There are several
standardization efforts to digitally represent clinical data such as
HL7 CDA, EHRcom and openEHR. These EHR standards, which are currently
under development, aim to structure and markup the clinical content for
the purpose of exchange.

HAGRID, a new pioneering EU-funded initiative started in December 2006, helps to increase the participation of newcomers in European ICT research by acting as a gateway to similar EU-funded projects. HAGRID aims to provide an innovative Single Point of Access (SPOA) solution to newcomers and beginners in ICT so as to accelerate their integration to the European Research Area (ERA) in ICT.

The project aims to upgrade the participation of competent
organisations in the EU-funded research programmes in two broad areas:
e business and e work.
IST BONUS targets competent research organizations (universities,
institutes, centers, etc.), innovative SMEs and mid range and large
enterprises from the New Member States (NMS) and Accession Candidate
Countries (ACC) of the EU.
