The Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology of the Emergency Hospital of Bucharest is an academic clinic of the"Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Bucharest and also an emergency and tertiary center of Cardiology with high standard activity in clinical and academic work, under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Maria Dorobantu, MD, PhD, FESC, FACC, the Chief of the Department. The Department of Cardiology is also a recognized Research Center (Type C, CNCSIS) in the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic pain, with participation to many multicenter international trials in Cardiology and also with a large number of original research projects in clinical and also in fundamental Cardiology. Prof. Dorobantu is at present the President of the Bucharest Branch of the Romanian Society of Cardiology and the President of the Working Group of Hypertension of the Romanian Society of Cardiology. The Department has 68 Cardiology beds, 2 Coronary Care Units with a total of 13 beds, Laboratory of Invasive Cardiology and Electrophysiological Studies and Pacing, Echocardiography Laboratory, ECG Stress Test and Holter Laboratory and highly trained personnel involved in clinical research, post-universitary courses, workshops and congresses organization, and a number of 11 research fellows and many academic members and PhD fellows working for the Department. The Department has also the collaboration of 3 Honorary Professors of Cardiology from abroad.
Participation and cooperation within European and International projects:
- Participant to European Cardiac Registries: the Euro Heart Surveys for Acute Coronary Syndromes, Heart Failure I and II, Angina Pectoris;
- Participant to the ExTRACT TIMI-25 international trial (Prof. M. Dorobantu is the National Investigator);
- Participant to the GRACE Registry of acute coronary syndromes and to many multicenter international trials in Cardiology (BRAVO, CARMEN, SENIORS, OUVERTURE, BEAUTIFUL, aso);
- Diplomas of European Cardiologist, Fellows and Training Fellowships of the European Society of Cardiology.
